Yoko Shimada was a Japanese actress.

Shimada made her film debut in the 1971 drama Go Go Kamen Rider.

In Japan, her best-known role was in the iconic The Inugami Family.

In addition to The Inugami Family, she appeared during the 1970s in Castle of Sand, Karei-naru Ichikozu, and Shiroi Kyoto.

In 1980, she became well known to American audiences for her role as Mariko in the miniseries Shogun, for which she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress.

Shimada died July 25, 2022 in Tokyo. She was 69.
