What or who inspired you to seek a career in television?
Merging music with media has always been of great intrigue to me. I've always been amazed and impressed by the work of composers such as Trevor Morris, Bear McCreary, Atli Örvarsson, and Alf Clausen and how they can - with superhuman diligence - complete weekly shows with such high quality, narratively supportive, and enjoyable music. I aspire to raise my own art to this level after spending a few years working alongside talented composers in the industry.

I had the pleasure of attending the Cannes Film Festival last year and for the first time ever they screened episodic television. This is just one example of why it's such an exciting time to be involved in the entertainment industry, especially television, so I was absolutely thrilled to hear that I was chosen as a Television Academy Foundation Intern! I'm looking forward to experiencing the behind-the-scenes world of television and to gain experience that will help me succeed in this industry.

What or who inspired you to seek a career in television?
I've never been one to say "I don't watch TV," because I come from a family of loyal armchair critics. Following a show from beginning to end, watching the storyline unfold and the character grow is such a cool experience; it's always so bittersweet when it's over. Ever since I was a kid I've dreamed of being a part of the magic that creates that effect for the viewers.

In 2012, Ava DuVernay became the first African-American woman to win the Sundance Best Director Award, and became the reason why I chase my dreams so unapologetically. Why did you apply?
What inspired me to apply for the Television Academy Internship was the desire to have a "hands on" experience of some aspects of the industry. The privilege to work with television experts was a huge dream of mine and now a reality. I've always believed learning is best achieved when one has a physical participation in it, therefore I expect to gain knowledge and tips from many people met along the way in this internship experience.

What or who inspired you to seek a career in television?
I grew up watching what is considered to be classic television programming which included iconic and legendary shows like The Dick Van Dyke Show and Cheers. These have definitely impacted my life, but The Mary Tyler Moore Show was the one that inspired me to pursue a career in television. The quality in writing by the ground breaking female writers behind it, the amazing cast and how the leading star changed how women were seen in the work place was definitely an inspiration to follow and create my own path in the television industry.

My mom once told me, “tell me who you hang out with and I will tell you who you are." That being said, I was inspired to apply to this internship because I want to surround myself with like-minded individuals that are better and perhaps have more experience working in the post-production field because I believe that surrounding myself with the right people is a great way to improve and reach my future goal of owning a successful visual effects company.

Ever since I was a little kid, I had a tremendous curiosity for anything that had to do with cameras or technology in general. It wasn’t until most recently that I discovered myself and figured out that I want to pursue a career in the visual effects world. My favorite directors are Alejandro González Iñárritu and Alfonso Cuarón, and every time I look at their beautiful detail-oriented masterpieces, I'm inspired to continue striving for the best so that one day I can reach this level of high-end work.

My Professor, advisor, boss, school mom, and mentor, Chrissy Guest, encouraged me to apply and I wouldn't have this opportunity without her confidence in my abilities. What or who inspired you to seek a career in television?
I've always loved video production and after seeing my older sister's courage to pursue similar opportunities in media, I knew I could as well. My parents didn't have the opportunity to get college degrees but they always pushed us to do something that we truly loved and I saw video as a way to do something I enjoyed everyday while also helping, inspiring, and educating people. I owe so much to my family for letting me believe I could pursue a career in this field.
