Peter Aykroyd was a Canadian actor, comedian, and writer.

He began his comedy career by joining the Second City comedy troupe in Toronto after playing small-screen roles in SCTV and The New Avengers.

Aykroyd joined Saturday Night Live in 1979, juggling duties as both a writer and featured player. He earned a shared Emmy nomination in the category of outstanding writing in a variety or music program during his year on the show.

In 1996, Aykroyd stepped further behind the camera to co-create the Canadian sci-fi series PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal. Hosted by his brother Dan, the series ran for four seasons

In 1997, Peter Aykroyd and Jim Belushi provided the voices of Elwood Blues and Jake Blues for the cartoon The Blues Brothers: Animated Series, playing the roles made famous by their respective brothers Dan and John.

Aykroyd died November 6, 2021 in Spokane, Washington. He was 65.
