John Hillerman was an actor best known for his role as Jonathan Quayle Higgins III on Magnum, P.I. He played Tom Selleck's stuffy but lovable estate caretaker on the longrunning 1980s action series.

Hillerman won an Emmy Award for his role, and was nominated three more times.

He also appeared in the films Chinatown, Blazing Saddles, Paper Moon, The Last Picture Show, The Day of the Locust and A Very Brady Sequel.

Additionally, he played the role of Higgins on episodes of Simon & Simon and Murder, She Wrote. Hillerman also had roles on the TV series Maude, The F.B.I., Kojak, Mannix, Wonder Woman, The Betty White Show, Hawaii Five-O, Little House on the Prairie, Soap, Young Maverick, Hart to Hart, Lou Grant, One Day at a Time, The Love Boat and Valerie.
