Roger Ailes was a producer and network executive at Fox News, which debuted in 1996 under Ailes’ leadership. He shepherded the conservative network for two decades, stepping down in July of 2016.

Ailes began his career as a strategist and media advisor to Republican political candidates, beginning with Richard M. Nixon and including Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

He later served as a producer on the series The Real Tom Kennedy Show, Tomorrow Coast to Coast, Rush Limbaugh, Fox Files, and FoxNews.com Studio.

Additionally, he directed and produced the TV movie documentary Television and the Presidency, and produced the television specials Mike and Liberace and All-Star Salute to Our Troops.

He also made appearances on The David Frost Show, Investigative Reports, Fox Report, and Piers Morgan Tonight.

Ailes died May 18, 2017. He was 77.
