Robert Vaughn was an actor best known for his starring role in the 1960s NBC series The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Vaughn played American spy Napoleon Solo, for 105 episodes of the action-adventure series.

In 1978, Vaughn won an Emmy Award for his supporting actor work on the drama series Washington: Behind Closed Doors. The following year he was nominated for another Emmy, for his performance in the limited series Backstairs at the White House.

Additionally, Vaughn earned four Golden Globe nominations — two for The Man from U.N.C.L.E. — and one Oscar nomination, for his role in The Young Philadelphians.

Vaughn died November 11, 2016. He was 83.
