Game of Thrones Tops Emmy Noms

Netflix streaming series Orange is the New Black marks several Primetime Emmys firsts — including a groundbreaking nomination for Laverne Cox.

Game of Thrones scored the most nominations this year with 19 nods, it was revealed today, as hosts Mindy Kaling and Carson Daly hosted the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards nominations announcement ceremony.

First time nominee Fargo followed closely with 18.

Streamed live from the Television Academy's Leonard H. Goldenson Theater in North Hollywood at 5:45 a.m., the ceremony treated early risers to a few history-in-the-making moments.

Netflix streaming series Orange is the New Black scored an impressive 12 nominations in its very first season — including a nod in the Guest Actress category to Laverne Cox, the second transgender performer to receive an Emmy nomination and very first in an acting category. (Transgender performer Chaz Bono received a producer nod for Becoming Chaz in 2011.)
