Angela Lansbury is a British-American-Irish actress who has appeared in theatre, television and film, as well as a producer, voice actress, singer, and songwriter.

Her career has spanned seven decades, much of it in the United States, and her work has attracted international attention.

In 1983, Lansbury was offered the lead role in Murder, She Wrote, which centered on the character of Jessica Fletcher, a retired school teacher from the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine. Lansbury described the character as "an American Miss Marple". The series was created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson, and William Link.

Angela Lansbury was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 1996.
