Mickey Freeman, Co-Star of The Phil Silvers Show

Freeman played Private Fielding Zimmerman on the classic TV comedy.

Mickey Freeman, an actor best known for the role of Private Fielding Zimmerman on the classic 1950s television comedy The Phil Silvers Show, died September 28, 2010, in New York City. He was 93.

He was born Irving Freeman on February 12, 1917, in New York, and earned his first TV credit in a 1954 episode of the series Inner Sanctum.

The following year he made his first appearance on The Phil Silvers Show, which aired from 1955-59. At the time of his passing he was the last surviving male regular cast member from the program.

Following the show’s run, he went on to appear in such series as The Lloyd Bridges Show, Naked City, Lancer and The Equalizer.

In 1987 he became a member of the Friars Club.
