What an emotional week.

Television Academy and Unified

Audiences undoubtedly went through a variety of bittersweet emotions last week, as millions of fans tuned in to watch six finales that got tongues wagging and fingertips clicking.

After all, who wouldn’t be excited to see a little heart-pumping gunslinging, back-stabbing politics, an ex-assassin’s exploits, a woman’s adventures with her three male roommates, or some socially awkward bonding?

We’re of course talking about Gotham, New Girl, Person of Interest, The Red Road, Madam Secretary, and Weird Loners. And by scouring their Facebook and Twitter pages, we were able to determine which of the following was able to get social media fans sharing their emotions:

  • The crime families unleashing hell on the city in the season finale of Gotham

  • Jess and Nick’s petty post-break up argument in the season finale of New Girl

  • Finch and Root’s race to save The Machine in the season finale of Person of Interest

  • Kopus’s efforts to save the tribe from an attack in the season finale of The Red Road

  • A former friend causing Elizabeth to rethink her career choices in the season finale of Madam Secretary

  • Caryn and Stosh’s lesbian bar battle for the same girl in the season finale of Weird Loners

The Social Totals

It was the pre-Batman drama in the infamous Gotham city that got citizens clicking the most, with 346.9K engagements that amounted to a 48.4% market share. New Girl also made some new friends on social, taking second place with 238.2K engagements and a 33.2% share.

Active Audiences

While Gotham had one of the highest numbers of social citizens, it would seem that the residents of The Red Road were much more talkative. With 751.4 engagements per 1K users, the crime drama wrangled the highest number of interactions on both Facebook and Twitter. Meanwhile, the show Weird Loners certainly wasn’t lonely online, taking second place with 492.6 engagements per 1K users.
