Blake Painter

Blake Painter was an American reality show star and fisherman.

Painter rose to prominence after appearing on early seasons of Deadliest Catch, the Discovery Channel series which chronicles the lives and work of fishermen in Alaska, focusing on the hazards of the profession.

Painter captained the crabber ship Maverick during the reality series’ 2006 season. A longtime deckhand on the vessel, he was disappointed at being passed over for its captaincy during the previous season. He was at the ship’s helm for Season 3 in 2007, his last on the show.

Painter died May 25, 2018, in Astoria, Oregon. He was 38.
