Brenda Brkusic is a seasoned television executive with over 15 years of experience in program development and production.
As the Director of Program Development & Executive Producer of National Productions for PBS SoCal, Brkusic is responsible for directing the development, production, distribution and marketing of programs and series for local and national broadcast on PBS. Early in her career, Brkusic was a producer for PBS SoCal's Emmy Award-winning nightly news program and she also spearheaded a new TV channel for the station. Under her direction the channel was called "The Next generation of PBS" by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and received CPB's Education Innovation Award. Brkusic then launched "PBS SoCal Productions", and was the driving force behind the acquisition, development and production of thousands of programs and series.
She has been responsible for the development and production of programs featuring acclaimed film and TV stars Will Smith, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Matthew McConaughey, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Scorsese, Lady Gaga, Keira Knightly, Reese Witherspoon, Michael Keaton, Jennifer Lopez, Amy Schumer, Jennifer Lawrence and more.
Among her dozens of awards and honors, OC Metro Business Magazine named her a Successful Young Entrepreneur and Business Executive and a Dynamic Woman To Watch. She has won 7 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, 3 CINE Golden Eagle Awards, 8 Telly Awards, 2 Golden Mike Awards, and an International Documentary Association Distinguished Documentary Achievement Award Nomination. As a filmmaker, Brkusic has garnered top awards at film festivals and has been recognized on the Congressional Record of the US House of Representatives and at the International Leader's Summit at the European Union in Brussels.
Brkusic is a member of the Producers Council for the Producers Guild of America, the Executive Committee for the National Educational Telecommunications Association, the Long Range Planning Advisory Council for Marymount California University, and she has served on the LA Area Peer Group Executive Committee for the Television Academy since 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Television Production from Chapman University.
